ServiceMonitor [monitoring.coreos.com/v1]

Description
The ServiceMonitor custom resource definition (CRD) defines how Prometheus and PrometheusAgent can scrape metrics from a group of services. Among other things, it allows to specify:
  • The services to scrape via label selectors.
  • The container ports to scrape.
  • Authentication credentials to use.
  • Target and metric relabeling.
Prometheus and PrometheusAgent objects select ServiceMonitor objects using label and namespace selectors.
Type
`object`

namestringName of the referent. This field is effectively required, but due to backwards compatibility is allowed to be empty. Instances of this type with an empty value here are almost certainly wrong. More info: https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/overview/working-with-objects/names/#names
optionalbooleanSpecify whether the Secret or its key must be defined

.spec.endpoints[].tlsConfig.keySecret

Description
keySecret defines the Secret containing the client key file for the targets.

.spec.namespaceSelector

Description
namespaceSelector defines in which namespace(s) Prometheus should discover the services. By default, the services are discovered in the same namespace as the ServiceMonitor object but it is possible to select pods across different/all namespaces.
Type
`object`
PropertyTypeDescription
anybooleanany defines the boolean describing whether all namespaces are selected in contrast to a list restricting them.
matchNamesarray (string)matchNames defines the list of namespace names to select from.

.spec.selector

Description
selector defines the label selector to select the Kubernetes Endpoints objects to scrape metrics from.
Type
`object`
PropertyTypeDescription
matchExpressionsarraymatchExpressions is a list of label selector requirements. The requirements are ANDed.
matchExpressions[]objectA label selector requirement is a selector that contains values, a key, and an operator that relates the key and values.
matchLabelsobject (string)matchLabels is a map of {key, value} pairs. A single {key, value} in the matchLabels map is equivalent to an element of matchExpressions, whose key field is "key", the operator is "In", and the values array contains only "value". The requirements are ANDed.

.spec.selector.matchExpressions

Description
matchExpressions is a list of label selector requirements. The requirements are ANDed.
Type
`array`

.spec.selector.matchExpressions[]

Description
A label selector requirement is a selector that contains values, a key, and an operator that relates the key and values.
Type
`object`
Required
  • key
  • operator
PropertyTypeDescription
keystringkey is the label key that the selector applies to.
operatorstringoperator represents a key’s relationship to a set of values. Valid operators are In, NotIn, Exists and DoesNotExist.
valuesarray (string)values is an array of string values. If the operator is In or NotIn, the values array must be non-empty. If the operator is Exists or DoesNotExist, the values array must be empty. This array is replaced during a strategic merge patch.

.status

Description
status defines the status subresource. It is under active development and is updated only when the "StatusForConfigurationResources" feature gate is enabled. Most recent observed status of the ServiceMonitor. Read-only. More info: https://github.com/kubernetes/community/blob/master/contributors/devel/sig-architecture/api-conventions.md#spec-and-status
Type
`object`
PropertyTypeDescription
bindingsarraybindings defines the list of workload resources (Prometheus, PrometheusAgent, ThanosRuler or Alertmanager) which select the configuration resource.
bindings[]objectWorkloadBinding is a link between a configuration resource and a workload resource.

.status.bindings

Description
bindings defines the list of workload resources (Prometheus, PrometheusAgent, ThanosRuler or Alertmanager) which select the configuration resource.
Type
`array`

.status.bindings[]

Description
WorkloadBinding is a link between a configuration resource and a workload resource.
Type
`object`
Required
  • group
  • name
  • namespace
  • resource
PropertyTypeDescription
conditionsarrayconditions defines the current state of the configuration resource when bound to the referenced Workload object.
conditions[]objectConfigResourceCondition describes the status of configuration resources linked to Prometheus, PrometheusAgent, Alertmanager or ThanosRuler.
groupstringgroup defines the group of the referenced resource.
namestringname defines the name of the referenced object.
namespacestringnamespace defines the namespace of the referenced object.
resourcestringresource defines the type of resource being referenced (e.g. Prometheus, PrometheusAgent, ThanosRuler or Alertmanager).

.status.bindings[].conditions

Description
conditions defines the current state of the configuration resource when bound to the referenced Workload object.
Type
`array`

.status.bindings[].conditions[]

Description
ConfigResourceCondition describes the status of configuration resources linked to Prometheus, PrometheusAgent, Alertmanager or ThanosRuler.
Type
`object`
Required
  • lastTransitionTime
  • status
  • type
PropertyTypeDescription
lastTransitionTimestringlastTransitionTime defines the time of the last update to the current status property.
messagestringmessage defines the human-readable message indicating details for the condition’s last transition.
observedGenerationintegerobservedGeneration defines the .metadata.generation that the condition was set based upon. For instance, if .metadata.generation is currently 12, but the .status.conditions[].observedGeneration is 9, the condition is out of date with respect to the current state of the object.
reasonstringreason for the condition’s last transition.
statusstringstatus of the condition.
typestringtype of the condition being reported. Currently, only "Accepted" is supported.

Query parameters

ParameterTypeDescription
dryRunstringWhen present, indicates that modifications should not be persisted. An invalid or unrecognized dryRun directive will result in an error response and no further processing of the request. Valid values are: - All: all dry run stages will be processed
fieldValidationstringfieldValidation instructs the server on how to handle objects in the request (POST/PUT/PATCH) containing unknown or duplicate fields. Valid values are: - Ignore: This will ignore any unknown fields that are silently dropped from the object, and will ignore all but the last duplicate field that the decoder encounters. This is the default behavior prior to v1.23. - Warn: This will send a warning via the standard warning response header for each unknown field that is dropped from the object, and for each duplicate field that is encountered. The request will still succeed if there are no other errors, and will only persist the last of any duplicate fields. This is the default in v1.23+ - Strict: This will fail the request with a BadRequest error if any unknown fields would be dropped from the object, or if any duplicate fields are present. The error returned from the server will contain all unknown and duplicate fields encountered.
